Lou and John Carroll are owner-operators of Brisbane Bay Cycle Stay. Recently retired from careers as educators, Lou and John have enjoyed many overseas travels visiting all continents except Antarctica (yet!).
Our most enjoyable holidays have been those where at least some of the time has been spent with local hosts and experiencing local activities. While we are a new business, we have had extensive experience in hosting overseas, interstate and local guests, and some of their comments provide a flavour for the type of homestay holiday we can offer our guests.
We are both gregarious and active people who enjoy good food, good wine, and good conversation, and we
would like to help provide you with good memories
of Brisbane when you leave our home.
You will have the choice of bed & breakfast, or self-catered stays; self-guided or escorted cycle tours; and visits to tourist attractions of interest – all of which we can arrange for you, or assist you to make the arrangements for yourselves.
Our minimum homestay is three nights, with a maximum stay
of six nights.
Brisbane Cycle Stay provides comfortable, well-equipped, self-contained accommodation which is part of our home, but which will afford you the degree of privacy that we would desire ourselves when travelling.
Although our emphasis is on cycling as the major attraction, we will endeavour to help you plan and enjoy a stay which includes your desired combination of active or passive activities, together with a wide-ranging choice of tourism options within easy reach of our Wynnum base.
The model for our homestay cycling holiday comes from the Loire Valley in France, where we enjoyed the comfort and pleasure of a week-long stay in a renovated rural former barn, and spent the days cycling through and to the famous wine and chateaux precincts of the Loire region.
The cycle trips that we recommend range from short, eco-trips, through longer range scenic routes, to challenging combinations of on-road and off-road trips to attractions such as Sirromet Winery, Point Lookout on North Stradbroke Island, and King Island at Wellington Point.
We will arrange all the equipment you will need for any cycling trips and ask that you read the
'terms and conditions' necessary for this activity (e.g. cycling helmets are compulsory in Queensland).
Details of transport options to
our property are indicated in the ‘how to get here’ section.
